The conference will be held on 24-25 September 2019, at IKIP-PGRI Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
The theme of the conference is
“Exploring innovations, opportunities, and challenges in Literacy and Education in the era of industrial revolution 4.0”
In the era of industrial revolution 4.0, people are facing digitalized social life and work. People need to know and master digital technologies and information that allow them to learn and work at the same time. Virtual classrooms, libraries, and workspaces are available throughout the internet. Without the capacities to use them, these facilities instead will become barriers for people to reach success.
Literacy and education hold the keys for people to reach success. These keys can help the students to learn hard skills and soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Certainly, educators or teachers should know how to teach and guide the students to learn those hard skills and soft skills, which are needed to encounter the era of industrial revolution 4.0. This international conference intend to explore innovations, opportunities, and challenges in literacy and education that will allow educators and teachers to cope with the requirements of the era of industrial revolution 4.0. If not, maybe, teachers and educators soon will be replaced by robots with sophisticated artificial intelligence.
This very first international conference on literacy and education covers major themes under literacy and education such as:
- Literacy pedagogy,
- Digital literacy,
- Language teaching,
- Foreign language teaching,
- Individual differences,
- Applied linguistics,
- Teacher training,
- ICT in education,
- Assessment and development in literacy and education,
- Curriculum and material development.
- Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) and other soft skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity are also covered in this international conference.
Presentation and Publication
The 1st International Conference on Literacy and Education invites experts, teachers, lecturers, researchers, and students to submit their abstracts and full papers to be presented in the conference.
Abstracts and full papers should be written in English or Indonesian language. Peer review will take place to ensure the abstracts and manuscripts submitted are well-written, original, and relevant to the themes of the international conference.
Regarding the publication of the full papers, selected papers (as described above) will be published in the conference e-proceedings (ISBN).
